About acorns: Early American cultures utilized acorns as an important food source. Many wild birds such as jays and turkeys, and animals like deer and squirrels find them to be very nutritious. There is also a specialty nut oil produced from acorns. Craft people find them great for decorations and toy creation. Acorn caps can also be used as whistles.
